Kananaskis
I added a few photos to my portfolio from this weekend, I have received some much needed feed back regarding not all my photos but the overall things with the website. One of the photos I wanted to share was taken at a campground that holds a special place in my heart. Growing up, every long weekend rain, shine, or even snow meant packing up and going camping. This spot, in particular, became part of my childhood..
It’s amazing to live so close to such a beautiful place.
Although in 2013 the flood happened. This flood was one of the worst floods my home city of Calgary had seen since 1897. This flood was devastating and not only for Calgary. Kananaskis faced heartbreaking damages. The Elbow River which is right next to where I used to camp is now too this day left with a wall showing just how high the waters had gone and the damages it caused.
A few years after This devastating flood I had gone down to the campground, made my way down to the river. At this point it was nothing but rock and tree logs.
This weekend after years since visiting is was quite beautiful to see that nature is slowly healing. It will never be the same again, but the beavers are back to work, the new growth of tree’s and shrubs down near the river.
If you are every in or near Kananaskis I highly recommend you go on one of the trails, and support the business surrounding the area. I promise you will not regret it!
